History
During Lynda Lallys' year as Mayor in 2005/6, Lynda was invited to many Carnivals and Parades in the north of the Borough. She was impressed with the way the Carnivals brought together the community and promoted the local organisations that took part.
Many local residents have fond memories of Beeston Carnival. It was an annual event for many years but then ceased for some unknown reason about forty years ago. Lynda and Pat, along with other local Councillors Celia Berry, Frank Prince, Steve Barber, and local residents Eric and Enid Smith (The Committee!), worked with many local organisations, and Beeston Carnival and Parade were reborn on the 22nd July 2006 on a small budget of £250 granted by the Local Area Forum. We had a great day despite heavy rain immediately before and after the event.
Again on the 21st July 2007 the Committee ran the event, slightly bigger and better, with more events during the Fete, and a giant budget of £750 Granted by Broxtowe Action Fund. We were again blighted by rain, but a good time was had by all.
